Joseph and His Brothers

The Story
Joseph was Jacob's favorite son, and his father gave him a beautiful coat of many colors. This made his brothers jealous. Joseph had dreams showing that one day his brothers would bow down to him, which made them even more angry. His brothers plotted against him, threw him into a pit, and then sold him as a slave to traders going to Egypt. They told their father that Joseph was killed by a wild animal. In Egypt, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, but was later thrown into prison after being falsely accused. While in prison, Joseph interpreted dreams. Eventually, he interpreted Pharaoh's dream about seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh made Joseph his chief advisor, and Joseph wisely stored food during the good years. When the famine came, Joseph's brothers came to Egypt for food. Joseph forgave his brothers and brought his whole family to live in Egypt, saving them from starvation.

The Moral of the Story
Joseph's story teaches us that God can turn even the worst situations into something good. Jealousy and favoritism cause problems in families. No matter how difficult life becomes, we should remain faithful to God and trust His plan. Joseph never gave up hope, even when he was a slave and in prison. His faithfulness to God and his willingness to forgive his brothers show us the power of forgiveness and trusting in God's greater purpose.
